Summer is finally here with all its advantages, and disadvantages.
When the weather is hot and we feel exhausted even during regular daily activities, staying consistent with the workout is a big challenge.
Every even slightly advanced activity is more difficult during the summer than on colder days.
However, we do want to stay active and get all those amazing benefits of moving our bodies, so instead of quitting a workout during summer, we will make modifications to our exercise.
HYDRATE YOURSELF
During hot summer days, proper hydration is the most important. Not only during the workout but throughout the day. To avoid dehydration you should drink somewhere between 0,5 and 1 l of water before or after a workout, and at least a 2 l during the rest of the day.
EXERCISE IN THE MORNING
In order to avoid heat exposure during your workout, I suggest a morning workout. The temperature is cooler early in the morning, your body will adapt better and your workout will be more effective.
FOLLOW OUR MONTHLY PLAN
Having a proper workout plan is a really good idea for the hot summer days. Doing lots of cardio when the temperature is high is not recommended. Our monthly plan will be focusing on strength training and shorter classes, which have been found to give better results in the summertime.
GO OUTSIDE
If possible, consider going outside and doing your Pilatesness class in nature. Of course, avoid direct exposure to the sun and find a nice shady place. Exercising on the grass is better than on the sand or any other hard/cement floor. Fresh air will bust your mood and energy instantly so you will be much more motivated for a workout.
Show your body extra compassion during summer days. Don’t let external factors discourage you. Stay consistent with your workout routine, but keep it easy and always listen to your body.
Cause a little bit of summer's what the whole year's all about.
