You can’t heal a body you hate.
If you are not satisfied with your body, you have to work on self-acceptance.
Loving your body and accepting it as it is, is not something that happens overnight, but is worth the effort.
It won’t be easy, especially if you have spent years telling yourself that you don’t look good.
This ‘looking good’ persuasion of yours has been created by unrealistic social standards.
Technology doesn’t help at all. Filters on social media and image editing apps are creating a false reality.
Not only does the false image of a perfect girl/woman without wrinkles, pores, and cellulite harm others, but it also harms the self-respect and self-love of the person who uses it.
Once you see yourself with a filter, you will not be satisfied with a person in the mirror anymore.
Healing starts with self-acceptance and learning to love your body even if you are not satisfied with it.
When you boost your body confidence and start loving your body, you take better care of it.
Exercising and eating healthy becomes your natural need, not a punishment, once you accept and love your body as it is.
Here are 3 ways to start accepting and loving your body this month:
1. COMPLIMENT YOURSELF
When standing in front of a mirror try complimenting instead of criticizing and bulling yourself.
Find 3 things you love about your body every day. This may be strange at first but give it time and practice.
2. EXERCISE BECAUSE IT FEELS GOOD
Having a goal to lose weight or change your body shape is not good and sustainable.
Instead, try setting a daily intention to move your body because it feels good.
Do workouts you love the most and those that feel best for you.
Shift your mindset from burning calories to feeling vibrant, energized, strong and healthy. You will feel empowered and keep coming back for more.
3. DON’T COUNT CALORIES (OR ANYTHING ELSE)
To be able to listen to your body and hear its hunger signals, you should avoid counting calories and following strict diets.
Instead of focusing on external measures and rules, start focusing on internal cues.
Healthy fats, proteins, and fiber will make you feel full longer, so try adding them to your meals.
Eat nourishing foods; fruits, vegetables, whole grains, protein, and healthy fats.
Enjoy your plate and stop stressing yourself.
